IDSAI Lifetime Achievement Award (IDSAI LAA)
Award Overview
The IDSAI Lifetime Achievement Award (IDSAI LAA) is one of the highest honors conferred by IDSAI. It recognizes an individual whose sustained career has made exceptional and lasting contributions to data science, artificial intelligence, or closely related interdisciplinary fields.
The Award recognizes long-term scientific, technological, educational, professional, or community impact, with particular emphasis on originality, international influence, leadership, and enduring contributions to the field.
Eligibility
Nominees should normally demonstrate:
. At least 25 years of substantial professional, academic, or research engagement in data science, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field.
. A sustained record of influential research, technological innovation, professional practice, or other major contributions.
. Pioneering or leadership contributions that have significantly advanced the field or its applications.
. Meaningful contributions to education, mentorship, professional service, or community development.
. Strong professional standing, integrity, and recognition within the international community.
Eligibility does not guarantee selection. The Committee will consider the overall significance, originality, durability, and influence of the nominee’s career contributions.
Nomination Procedure
Candidates should normally be nominated by recognized scholars, professionals, academic or research institutions, professional societies, or other qualified members of the international community. The nomination should provide a clear, evidence-based case for the nominee’s lifetime achievements.
Required Nomination Materials
A complete nomination should include:
. Curriculum Vitae: an up-to-date CV covering the nominee’s academic, professional, research, leadership, and service record.
. Nomination Statement: a concise statement explaining the nominee’s most important lifetime contributions and their lasting influence.
. Selected Major Contributions: a brief summary of the nominee’s most significant scientific, technological, educational, industrial, or professional achievements.
. Key Publications or Works: a selected list of influential publications, patents, technologies, systems, standards, projects, or other major outputs.
. Letters of Recommendation: at least three letters from internationally recognized experts or distinguished professionals.
IDSAI may request additional supporting information where necessary.
Selection Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated holistically, with particular consideration given to:
. originality and significance of major contributions;
. sustained impact over the nominee’s career;
. influence on the advancement or application of data science and artificial intelligence;
. international recognition and professional standing;
. leadership, mentorship, and service to the professional community; and
. the enduring legacy of the nominee’s work.
No single quantitative indicator, including publication count, citation count, title, or institutional affiliation, will determine the outcome.
Selection Process
. Complete nominations will first undergo an administrative eligibility review.
. Eligible nominations will be evaluated by an independent IDSAI Award Selection Committee using the published criteria and submitted evidence.
. Committee members must disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves where appropriate. The Committee may request additional information or independent assessment if needed.
Committee deliberations are confidential and decisions are final. The Award is conferred solely on merit and need not be awarded every year. Normally, no more than one recipient will be selected in each award cycle, except in exceptional circumstances.
Award Recognition
The recipient may receive:
. an official IDSAI Lifetime Achievement Award certificate and commemorative trophy;
. formal recognition at an IDSAI conference, congress, ceremony, or other designated academic event;
. an invitation to deliver a Distinguished Lecture, Keynote Address, or Award Lecture; and
. a dedicated profile through appropriate IDSAI communication channels.
Specific arrangements will be determined by IDSAI and communicated to the recipient.
Nomination Deadline
September 30 of each year, unless otherwise announced by IDSAI.
Late or substantially incomplete nominations may not be considered.
Announcement
The recipient will normally be announced on or before November 30 of the corresponding award year.
